Simple Media Conversion
Simple Media Conversion involves transferring data from one type of media without changing the content. One example is copying data from a 5 1/4” IBM optical disk to a DVD. Another example is to extract files from an old IBM 3490 tape and return those files via the Internet.
Document Management Systems/Imaging Conversion
This process involves the extraction of data from one type of input media, written in a document management system/imaging workflow system, and then converting it to a different image format, media format and index format. HOV's expertise is unmatched in retrieving images and index values from FileNET and other imaging systems, and then writing to a higher capacity disk. It is also possible to deliver the data in ASCII index files and TIFF Group IV image format.
Optical Disk Input Formats
Most imaging system vendors have proprietary methods for storing data on disk for retrieval. In order to get access to this data, you must either purchase the system or write your own software to access the files on the disk. HOV Services has software that will read data from optical disks, CD-ROMs, DVD-ROMs, magnetic tape and hard disks stored in proprietary formats. In most cases, our customers will have preexisting document management/imaging systems and are looking to upgrade or replace this system. HOV Services helps our customers manage their information by extracting data and storing it on new media in a format ready for import into the new system, without the need to re-scan or re-index the original source data.
Optical Disk Output Formats
Data stored on optical disks can be written using various formats. FileNET and other imaging system customers have come to appreciate HOV's technical expertise and our ability to write FileNET and other imaging system formatted optical disks for incorporation into an optical disk library/jukebox. This eliminates the need for FileNET and other imaging system users to expend the enormous amount of time needed to perform an import of data. HOV Services has unparalleled experience when it comes to input/output tape creation formats. We understand the different software packages used to write data to magnetic tape, and we can read or write in these formats based on our customers’ requirements.
HOV Services also has the complete engineering and skills required for:
• Input/Output – image formats
• Input/Output – non-image formats
• Input/Output – index database formats
